Your Tax Information is Confidential

Tax returns and tax return information are confidential. They may include the taxpayer’s identity, the nature, source or amount of income, payments, receipts, deductions, net worth, tax liability, deficiencies, closing agreements, and information regarding actual or possible investigation of a return. The information will not be disclosed to federal or state agencies, or to federal or state employees without your explicit authorization, or otherwise as required by law.

Disclosure of tax return information is governed by Internal Revenue Code Section 6103. A tax professional or tax return preparer who uses information from a tax return for any purpose other than to prepare a tax return, or who makes an unauthorized disclosure of return information, is subject to a $250 penalty for each disclosure, up to a maximum penalty of $10,000. If the action is undertaken knowingly or recklessly, the preparer may be subject to criminal penalties or fine up to $1,000, or up to a year in jail, or both, together with the cost of prosecution as provided for by the Internal Revenue Code Sections 6713 and 7216.

Nonpublic Personal Information We Collect

The nature of our services requires us to collect certain non-public personal information on taxpayer. We collect personal and financial information from application, worksheet, statements and other forms, as well as interviews and conversations with our clients and affiliates. We may also review banking and credit card information about our clients in the performance of receipt of payment. Information may include, but is not limited to, social security, date of birth, martial status, source and amount of income, deductions and taxes paid and payable and information concerning your residence, dependents, pensions, medical expenses and charitable contribution. All information we obtain about you will be provided by you or obtained with your permission.

Protection Procedure

We have procedures and policies in place to protect your confidential information. We restrict access to your information to only those within our firm who need to know in order to provide you with our services.  We retain records related to our service so that we are better able to assist you with your needs and to comply with federal and state law. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your nonpublic personal information from unauthorized access.
